This is a copy of the Divisional Commanders Certificate of Appreciation received by Auxiliary in Charge  Philip Ralph and Auxiliary Nick Morton from  the North Yorkshire Police for their part in the rescue of a woman from the cliff edge, in Scarborough Castle on 20th July 1996.

During the early afternoon of Saturday, 20th July, 1996 a 43 year old woman in a most disturbed and agitated state, threatened suicide whilst standing a mere 18 inches from the top of the cliff face at Scarborough castle. With one other you were both exposed to considerable personal risk in effecting the rescue of this woman.

I am pleased to commend your action which required a special courage and calmness when dealing with the situation.

You are indeed a credit to the organization you represent.
